How do I participate?
- Pick out a public location in Orem where you would like to help.
- Fill out the online application.
- Read through the guidelines and share them with each participant in the group.
- Submit an online release waiver for yourself and each participant of your group before beginning.
- Parks staff will contact you to coordinate tools/supplies and answer any questions.
- Submit a simple report after each litter patrol activity.
- Return tools/supplies to the Public Works Department.

Litter Patrol is a program where volunteers help keep our community clean by picking up litter throughout parks, in neighborhoods, near roadways, and around public buildings.
It’s free! Parks staff provides pick-up tools, bags, nitrile gloves, and orange safety vests. Donations are always welcome.
Any individual or group may participate: businesses, civic groups, families, neighborhoods, religious organizations, youth groups, etc.

Pick a public area in Orem to focus your efforts. Practice safety while looking for many types of litter plastic: plastic bags, cigarette butts, hygiene masks, paper receipts, etc.
Litter Patrol areas could be throughout parks, in neighborhoods, near roadways, and around public buildings.

The patrol period is available year round.
It depends on you. This is a self-paced opportunity. You can participate in a one-time event or help out multiple times per year.
Wear comfortable clothing and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Long pants, a shirt with sleeves, and thick-soled shoes that completely cover the toes are recommended when working along roadways and in grassy fields.
Pick-up tools, bags, 5-gallon buckets, gloves, and orange safety vests when working along roadways. Tools, bags, nitrile gloves, and orange vests can be borrowed through the Tool Lending Library at Public Works.
